This undergraduate graduation project focuses on creating an awareness campaign around the concept of the Blue Economy, a vital yet often overlooked element of sustainability. Through branding, visuals, merchandise, and a social media campaign, the project aims to educate Saudi residents aged 25 to 40 about the Blue Economy’s impact on environmental and economic quality of life.
The Blue Economy refers to the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and ecosystem health. Despite its global importance, it remains unfamiliar to much of the public.
This thesis (which you can find in the Notes page here) investigates individual awareness in Saudi Arabia and promotes the Blue Economy as an essential factor in environmental protection and future sustainability. Inspired by the country’s Vision 2030, the project emphasizes transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy, expanding marine tourism, and protecting biodiversity.
Saudi Arabia has begun implementing laws and initiatives supporting the Blue Economy. However, public understanding remains limited, making visual education and accessible communication essential.
